Getting started with Linguas OS:

VERY IMPORTANT! - Once you have the disc burnt and booted, to log in,
the username is "translator", and
the password is "transl8".
(transl are letters, 8 is a number. Some folks wrote confused about that).
Also, the root password is "linguas".

Okay, so you have booted the Live CD, and don't know where to start.
Where is the "Start" button, you might be asking yourself, first…
The Linguas OS LiveCD uses [the Fluxbox desktop environment],
a light-weight window manager for Linux. It's a little different from what you are used to. I know.
Right-click on the desktop to bring up a menu of applications that are available to you.
You will find several submenus, including one for Network tools (browser, e-mail, etc.)
and one for Office tools ([Openoffice.org office suite], [Omega T CAT software], and Evince pdf reader).
Have a look around and enjoy experimenting with these tools.

If you decide to install Linguas OS to your computer's hard drive, there are other options for a desktop environment.
We recommend that you install the [KDE Desktop], in that case, which is a powerful and
user-friendly desktop system that will feel and behave in a manner much more familiar to you.
We chose to use Fluxbox on the LiveCD in order to keep the Linguas OS Live CD lightweight.
Installation of addition applications, once Linguas OS is on your hard drive, is done quite easily with
Synaptic, the package management program included with Linguas OS
(it is in the Admin tools menu on the Live CD's Fluxbox menu).

If you are contemplating installation to your hard drive, we recommend that you read and print these instructions first.
Additionally, see this page for more information after installation.
